We were excited to see teams from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire at one of our longest-running events in the same venue! The Waterbury District Event wowed visitors while kicking off two weekends in a row of CT events.
Waterbury Public Schools have been an amazing supporter of FIRST since we first brought an event there in 2015. Thank you to our special guests for welcoming everyone to the competition: Wilby High School Principal Kenny Pierre-saint, Superintendent of Waterbury Schools Dr. Darren Schwartz, and Mayor of the City of Waterbury Paul Pernerewski.
As we've seen at so many events this year, a preview of the #1 alliance came during a qualification match on Sunday morning, where two teams put up a high score of 613. Breaking all records posted at URI the day before, they scored 637 in playoff match #7 for the current district high score!
We have events all over the region this weekend, from New Hampshire to Massachusetts to Connecticut. Good luck to the 114 teams competing!
