Uncovering the future at Western New England University
The Western NE District Event returned to Western New England University for the 6th time, welcoming teams from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont and New Hampshire.
Special thanks to our event chair Dr. Christian Salmon for introducing incoming University president Dr. Joseph Hartman and to both for welcoming our teams on Saturday morning!
Local media had great coverage of the entire weekend. See our Press Room for the articles!
This third event of the weekend was our last to finish: our field resetters inspired us with their hours of energy!
The event ended with a New England HIGH SCORE of 573 in Finals 2! How many matches will play in the coming weeks before it's overtaken?

From an engineering media perspective, the student showcase is really well produced. In our own lab documentation we constantly juggle assets ? quick fixes like avif to jpg for web previews, convert heic to png when iPhone shots come in, xlsx to csv to share data with teammates, and even invisible character for testing text rendering edge cases. Nice to see WNE putting this work front and center!
Excited to see Western New England University highlighting student innovation and community impact. The mix of hands-on projects and mentorship really stands out. Outside class we often use fun tools like tuimiz random animal generator for workshop icebreakers, the ao3 purity test as a lighthearted residence hall activity, resources for reflection like bible verses for funerals, and even a simple mouse test when setting up lab machines. Great to see the future being uncovered here!
A friend recommended eggy car, and it turned into one of those games I keep opening for a few quick runs during breaks.
